The Cascade: a site-specific or integrated sculptural installation. A series of painted stainless steel arcs start from the pond at the foot of a water feature (a continuous cascade of white water) and step down through terraces. The arcs represent in solid form a continuation of the flow of water. The arcs are painted in colours which reflect upon the way light and water interact to create the rainbow effect capturing that dynamic play. The key  is blue, the colour of the deep ocean. The brightness of the colours, the slim form of the arcs, the way in which they "tumble" down the terraces runs counter to the massiveness of the surrounding buildings. The arcs radiate out  in five rows for visual cohesion, The viewer can participate by walking under the arcs, as if under a waterfall.

The Heart of the Matter: a large red plastic love-heart "rests" in a lounge chair. When a viewer/participant approaches, the heart beats faster or slower according to their proximity. When someone sits in the chair opposite, it quietens to a steady beat no matter who else is in the room. However, the seated person causes a telephone to ring beside them. When they pick it up, a voice on an endless loop speaks a monologue performing many kinds of voices from distant to intimate, from concern to anger, and so forth. A video camera is trained on the participant's chair and the scene displayed on a monitor outside the room. Visitors become performers for each other.

The text was written and performed by Anna Gibbs. Electronics - John Ardley

Suspended Disbelief: A pyramid of open books contains the sound loop of a story being told by two voices. It is from a cut-uo text written and performed by Nola Farman and Anna Gibbs using a method similar to that of  the Surrealist's Exquisite Corpse. It is a faux or frustrated narrative which veers away from meaning as it begins to take shape.
An open book hovers above the apex of the pyramid - suspended disbelief.Lighting was carefully designed to support the illusion/allusion.

Shown at PICA (Perth Institute of Contemporary Art) Western Australia.
